«Rispettare la ricchezza se si pagano le tasse»

A proposito di gente ricca che paga il giusto, Saint Tony (Blair), il santo protettore della sinistra moderna, è riuscito a creare dal nulla con una sua società 8 milioni di sterline di spese per abbattere, in modo pare assolutamente legale,  le imposte sul reddito. Lo rivela il Daily Telegraph oggi.

Tax specialists who have studied the accounts have told The Sunday Telegraph that the tax paid in 2010 of £154,000 and £315,000 in 2011 appears low because costs have been offset against the administrative costs, which remain largely unexplained.
One City accountant, who did not wish to be named, said: “It is very difficult to see what these administrative costs could be. It is a very large amount for a business like this. I am sure it is legitimate but it is certainly surprising”.

Chelsea Clinton, Page Six e il giornalismo italiano

Oggi  tutti i quotidiani e alcuni siti online italiani riportano la notizia del flop di Chelsea Clinton come giornalista della NBC. Peccato che il contratto non rinnovabile automaticamente e di durata trimestrale della  figlia dell’ex presidente sia una notizia vecchia di circa un mese; una notizia che la giornalista di Page Six – l’angolo dei pettegolezzi del New York Post che non  è esattamente un quality newspaper – ha rincicciato con una serie di commenti di fonti anonime; una notizia che Fox News – entrambe le testate sono di proprietà di Rupert Murdoch, non esattamente un amico dei Clinton – ha ripreso. Erik Wemple, ieri nel suo blog sul Washington Post, ha decostruito la notizia, ma a quanto pare non è servito a molto.

The piece comes forth with this anonymous emptiness:

Our source said NBC “created unrealistic expectations. Chelsea wanted a 90-day contract to see if she liked it. It’s possible she will do more for NBC in the future, [but] she doesn’t know if she’ll sign another contract.”

And here’s what the New York Times published on Dec. 3: “Ms. Clinton has a three-month trial contract with NBC, after which both parties will decide whether to continue.” The difference? None. Same information, one published early by an outlet that trades in the news, the other published tardily by an outlet that trades in smoke and mirrors.

Fumo e specchi, purtroppo, sono vecchi trucchi del giornalismo. Ad ogni latitudine.
